BC is well known for its bountiful local seafood selection, but whether you enjoy them grilled, peeled, sautéed, or poached, seafood lovers all agree that BC Spot Prawns are to die for. There are far too many types of prawn to name them all (Some estimates say that there are over 2000 different species of prawn in the world, and more being discovered all the time.), but it’s well know that the BC Spot Prawns are among the best in the world.
BC Spot Prawns
Beginning around May 14, we celebrate the BC Spot Prawn with a three course menu dedicated to this delectable, juicy crustacean. This year, our menu will feature two appetizers to choose from, (Chilled English Pea Soup with Grilled BC Spot Prawns or BC Spot Prawn and Scallop Carpaccio) and a selection of three entrées (BC Spot Prawn and Line Caught Halibut Duo or BC Spot Prawn Poele or BC Spot Prawn Duo – Grilled & Provençal Style) followed by your choice from our dessert menu. There are no wrong decisions here, in fact you may want to visit us more than once during the season and try all of the dishes.
Don’t wait too long to enjoy this amazing menu, as the menu is only available during the fishing season for BC Spot Prawns. Some of you may already know that the fishing season is short, (and can end very abruptly) for BC Spot Prawns, and the menu will only be available while BC Spot Prawns are fresh, so don’t delay, or you might miss out. The season typically begins in the middle of May and can last anywhere from six to eight weeks, although in recent years, it has been shorter.
If you’re like me, and you can’t get enough BC Spot Prawns, you may want to check out the Spot Prawn Festival at Fishermen’s Wharf on Granville Island May 19, 2019. It’s just a short ferry ride (www.granvilleislandferries.bc.ca) across False Creek, so why not visit us for dinner after the festival?
