With immense thought and consideration, we have made the decision to temporarily close Provence Marinaside and The Wine Bar.
We would like to take this opportunity to let all our guests know that your health and the health of our employees is always our top priority.
We are strictly adhering to all of the guidelines the Vancouver Coastal Health department and the Canadian government is providing and taking extra steps to ensure the well-being of all of our guests.
We have implemented new policies to sanitize all our menus, bill folds and hand held payment terminals after every use. We have also added additional cleaning and sanitizing of our rest rooms, door handles and surface areas.
We will continue to operate with our regular hours serving breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. We are considering a complimentary delivery service for our guests who may not feel comfortable dining out.

Josh Carlson, Wine Director at Provence Marinaside and The Wine Bar is no stranger to food and beverage. Having come up in kitchens around the Lower Mainland including Provence and TWB owner and chef Jean-Francis Quaglia. Josh is not only a certified wine expert, he is a red seal chef.
Josh attended culinary school at VCC and received his International Sommeliers Guild (levels 1 & 2) certifications under Mark Davidson. Having spent time at several highly renowned restaurants in Vancouver including Edible Canada; Westin Grande; and the now-closed Provence Mediterranean Grill; he has developed his own take on how best to approach running a complex wine program, like the one at Provence Marinaside.
Josh says “it’s important to have wines that are easy to drink and understand for the everyday diner who just needs something to complement his meal, to the oenophile looking for something a little more obscure.” With that in mind, he has brought on Gabriel and Benoit to work as floor Sommeliers to assist guests with questions about their wine selection.
Under the direction of Josh, Provence Marinaside and The Wine Bar recently picked up a Gold award at the Vancouver International Wine Festival awards. This is a great honour for all of us at Provence and TWB; we couldn’t be more proud of the work that Josh and his team have put in to get us here.
Provence and StreetSmart have had a great relationship since they first came to us with their plan to help those in the community who are in need. The concept is simple; when you dine in a StreetSmart participating restaurant, ask your server to add $1 (or more if you choose) to your bill. Every cent of that dollar is then passed to the local food bank, to purchase necessary items to help feed people in the community.
While your shopping, it’s great to purchase a few extra items to leave in the donation box. However, there are many items that either: are not considered, or simply can’t be donated in this way (such as fresh fruits and vegetables, or hygiene products). Your dollar can support the Food Bank purchase specific items needed to help. Additionally, they have a significant buying power than the average person, allowing your dollar make a bigger impact.
For your next meal out, consider visiting one of the many StreetSmart partners in the lower mainland – we recommend Provence Marinaside or The Wine Bar.
On Sunday 27 November 2016, Provence Mediterranean Grill will close its doors after 19 years.
“It is with a mixture of excitement and sadness that we write you today with some news about Provence Restaurants. Recently, Raj Aujlay, a former employee, made us an offer to purchase our original restaurant, Provence Mediterranean Grill, on West 10th Avenue in Point Grey. After much soul searching, negotiating and dreaming, we decided to accept the offer.
Our youngest son recently left home for his first solo trip to Europe. The decision to let go of Provence Mediterranean Grill (affectionately called P1) feels very similar to letting Remi go off on his own.
Nineteen years ago, we opened P1’s doors and were immediately welcomed with warmth by the neighbourhood. Later, our ‘baby’ grew to include siblings Provence Marinaside and TWB – The Wine Bar in Yaletown. Over the years, we not only grew restaurants, we raised a family – both our sons (Matisse and Remi) are now young men and work in the restaurants. P1 has always been at our core so this decision was not taken lightly but we felt it was time.”

This is not goodbye from the Quaglia family, as their journey continues at both Provence Marinaside and TWB in Yaletown. The legacy of good food served in a warm environment filled with love will continue.

Eat like a king and your royal family with our delectable Plateau de Fruits de Mer. This platter of chilled seafood, including half crab, prawns, oysters, seafood salad, pink scallops and smoked salmon with four sauces is a crowd pleaser.
