2026 Vancouver Lobster Festival

Lobster Festival 2026 in Vancouver: Atlantic Lobster, Provençal Flavours & Yaletown Patio Dining at Provence Marinaside

May 29 – June 30, 2026  |  Yaletown Waterfront  |  Three-Course Prix Fixe with Nova Scotia Wine Pairings

Whether you prefer them steamed, grilled, boiled or sautéed, everyone agrees there's something irresistible about the rich, sweet flavour of fresh Atlantic lobster. From May 29 to June 30, 2026, Provence Marinaside's beloved Lobster Festival returns to Yaletown's False Creek waterfront — celebrating one of Canada's most iconic seasonal delicacies with a three-course prix fixe menu inspired by both the Maritimes and the South of France.

A Vancouver Seafood Restaurant Built Around the Season

Provence Marinaside has been Vancouver's waterfront seafood restaurant of choice for over two decades, rooted in sustainably caught BC seafood and the cuisine of the South of France. The Lobster Festival is its annual love letter to seasonality — a month-long celebration of fresh Atlantic lobster, the kind of dish that turns dinner into an occasion.

"In Marseille, where I grew up, there was always a celebration surrounding the season's freshest catches. In the Maritimes, that same spirit exists with their traditional lobster boils and coastal seafood feasts. We created our Lobster Festival to honour that sense of seasonality and celebration, and every year our guests look forward to its return."

— Jean-Francis Quaglia, Owner & Executive Chef

From Marseille to the Maritimes: A Short History of Lobster Season

Few foods have travelled a stranger journey than the lobster. In the 1800s, Atlantic lobster was considered poor man's food — so abundant along the shores of the Maritimes that it washed up in piles after storms and was famously fed to prisoners, indentured servants, and farmhands. It took the arrival of the railway and the rise of canning at the turn of the 20th century to transform Atlantic lobster into the prized delicacy we celebrate today.

The Atlantic lobster season itself is something worth celebrating. Late spring and early summer mark the prime harvest along Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick — when new-shell lobsters (recently moulted) deliver the sweetest, most tender meat of the year. It's no coincidence that Provence Marinaside's Lobster Festival lands squarely in this window each May and June: this is simply when Atlantic lobster is at its peak.

Provence's love affair with lobster runs just as deep. Along the Mediterranean coast, langouste (spiny lobster) has been celebrated since Roman times, and the classic dish homard à la provençale — lobster slow-cooked with sun-ripened tomato, garlic, white wine, a splash of cognac, and herbes de Provençe — is the direct ancestor of our Whole Lobster Provençal. French sailors crossing the Atlantic to fish the Grand Banks carried these Mediterranean techniques with them, weaving Provençal flavours into Acadian and Maritime kitchens. It is a culinary thread that runs from Marseille to Halifax — and lands, every spring, on the patio at Marinaside Crescent.

The lobster on your plate at Provence Marinaside travels a remarkably direct route from the docks to the kitchen. Our supplier is Sing Lobster — run by Fabian Bates, a Port Moody-based importer who has spent more than 45 years in the lobster trade, starting as a teenager hauling traps with his father in Main-A-Dieu, Nova Scotia. Fabian imports only hard-shell Atlantic lobster from family suppliers back on the east coast, delivered live to Lower Mainland restaurants within 24 hours of arrival. When a lobster arrives at our kitchen, it has been out of the water as briefly as possible — which is exactly how it should be.

The 2026 Lobster Festival Menu

Yaletown's Best Waterfront Patio for Lobster Season

There's no better place to crack into a whole Atlantic lobster than Provence Marinaside's Yaletown waterfront patio. Overlooking False Creek and the marina, our heated, umbrella-shaded patio is one of Vancouver's most coveted summer dining spots — perfect for long lobster lunches, sunset dinners, and lingering glasses of Nova Scotia bubbly.

As a seafood restaurant on Vancouver's seawall, Provence Marinaside is built for this season — the Pacific at the kitchen door, the marina at your table, and a kitchen that knows exactly what to do with both.

Coming to Vancouver for the football? We're Right by the Action

Vancouver is buzzing this summer as one of the host cities, with matches at BC Place and fan festivities throughout downtown. Provence Marinaside sits a 10–15 minute walk from BC Place Stadium, with Rogers Arena and the surrounding fan zones nearby, making us the perfect pre-match dinner, post-game celebration, or relaxed waterfront escape between fixtures.

Catch the goals. Then catch the catch of the season. The Lobster Festival runs through the heart of the tournament. A whole Atlantic lobster on the False Creek patio is the most delicious way to celebrate a win (or soften a loss).

Pro tip for football fans: book at least a week in advance for match-day evenings. Patio tables go first, and demand will be extraordinary throughout June 2026.
