Brunch, Seafood & Seasons on the Yaletown Waterfront

Sunday Brunch, Seafood & Sunshine: Where Summer Meets Fall on the Yaletown Waterfront

Provence Marinaside  |  September 2026  |  Yaletown Waterfront, Vancouver

Late September has a certain magic in Vancouver. Summer has not quite let go and fall has not quite arrived, which means warm afternoons, crisp mornings, golden light on the water and a marina that is still busy with boats. The heated patio at Provence Marinaside is one of the best places in the city to watch the season change, with a proper French brunch in front of you, right on the water in Yaletown.

The Short Version

Provence Marinaside is a French restaurant in Yaletown, Vancouver, serving weekend brunch on a heated waterfront patio overlooking the marina. Brunch runs Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am to 2:45pm. Top sellers include the Croque Monsieur Benedict, the Crab Cake Benedict and Two Eggs Any Style, alongside three house Caesars, Prosecco, BC and Champagne mimosa flights, and over 100 wines by the glass, one of Vancouver's most extensive wine menus. Reservations are recommended, especially for patio tables.

Watching the Season Change from the Patio

There is something about brunch on the water that just hits differently at this time of year. The light is a little softer, the crowds have thinned since peak summer, and the marina view feels like it is all yours. Grab a table on the patio, order a Caesar, and take your time. Watch the boats come and go, the seawall walkers and cyclists roll past, and the False Creek light shift across the morning. Bring a light layer for the cooler start to the day, because the sun usually wins by midday.

Weekend brunch at Provence Marinaside runs Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am to 2:45pm, so there is no need to rush. Come early for a quiet start, or arrive at noon and let brunch turn into a long, lazy lunch.

Croque Monsieur Benedict: A French Café Classic

If there is one dish that says "French brunch," it is the Croque Monsieur. It is a ham and cheese sandwich, but a very good one: toasted until golden, layered with gruyère, and eaten with a knife and fork in cafés all over France.

Where the Croque Monsieur Comes From

The name is simple. Croque comes from the French verb croquer, "to crunch," and monsieur is, well, "mister." The earliest documented reference is from 1891, when the French magazine La Revue Athlétique described preparing "croque-monsieurs" with toast, butter, gruyère, ham and a little cayenne pepper. Where the sandwich began before that is less clear, but it has been a fixture of French café and bistro culture ever since.

Its cousin, the croque madame, adds a fried or poached egg on top. The Petit Robert dictionary dates that name to around 1960.

Our Version

At Provence Marinaside, the Croque Monsieur Benedict takes the classic and gives it a brunch upgrade: poached eggs, black forest ham and melted gruyère on focaccia, finished with a sundried tomato butter. It arrives with toasted baguette, provençal roasted tomato and our Provence breakfast potatoes, so it is a full plate in every sense. Rich, savoury and a little bit Provençal, it is one of our most-loved brunch dishes.

Crab Cake Benedict: Our Pacific Take on a Brunch Favourite

Eggs Benedict is a brunch institution, and in Vancouver it is hard to beat when the crab is fresh. Our Crab Cake Benedict swaps the usual base for crab and shrimp cakes topped with poached eggs, giving you something crisp, savoury and unmistakably West Coast. It is one of the top-selling dishes on our brunch menu, and it pairs beautifully with a glass of something bubbly from our wine list.

Like all of our egg dishes, it comes with toasted baguette, provençal roasted tomato and Provence breakfast potatoes.

Two Eggs Any Style: The Brunch Classic, Done Right

Sometimes you just want eggs the way you like them. Two Eggs Any Style is exactly that, and it is one of our most-ordered brunch dishes. Choose your eggs, then choose your side from a list with something for everyone: veal sausages, bacon, herbed turkey sausage, smoked steelhead, roasted vegetables or half an avocado.

It is served with toasted baguette, provençal roasted tomato and Provence breakfast potatoes. Simple, generous and easy to customize, it is a good pick for a table with a mix of tastes, or when you want brunch to feel like a proper weekend treat without overthinking it.

Brunch Caesars: We May Be French, But We Are Firmly Canadian on This One

Provence Marinaside may be a French restaurant, but when it comes to brunch cocktails, we are firmly with Canada. The Caesar is Canada's national cocktail, and a Vancouver brunch does not feel complete without one.

New to the Caesar? Here Is the Short Version

If you are visiting from out of town, think of the Caesar as Canada's answer to the Bloody Mary. It was created in Calgary in 1969 and is made with vodka, spicy seasonings and Clamato, a blend of tomato juice and clam broth. It is served over ice in a glass with a savoury rim and a garnish, and it has a salty, tangy, slightly spicy flavour that makes it a natural brunch drink. The clam broth is what sets it apart from the Bloody Mary, and it is also why the Caesar goes so well with seafood. If you would rather have the tomato-only version, all three of ours are also available as a Bloody Mary.

Our Three Caesars

Mediterranean Caesar
Our most Provençal pour, with a house made provençal rim and a garnish of prawn, olive, pickled onion, pepperoncini and a spicy bean.

Cowboy Caesar
Kicked up with a shot of pickle juice and a peppered bacon rim, garnished with spicy smoked pepperoni and a pickle spear.

West Coast Caesar
Made with a house made horseradish west coast sauce and a lemon pepper rim, garnished with smoked salmon and cucumber.

Not sure which to pick? The West Coast is the one for seafood lovers, the Cowboy is for anyone who likes a little heat and smoke, and the Mediterranean is the most garnish-loaded of the three.

Mimosa Flights: Make Your Own Brunch Bubbles

If you would rather start with bubbles, our mimosa flights are the way to go. Each one pairs a sparkling wine with a selection of juices, so you can mix your own mimosa exactly the way you like it. They are made for sharing, which makes them a natural fit for a long, sunny patio brunch with friends.

Prosecco Mimosa Flight
Mionetto Prosecco Treviso Brut with a selection of juices. Light, crisp and easy-drinking.

BC Mimosa Flight
Summerhill Pyramid Winery Cipes Brut with a selection of juices, for a local take on brunch bubbles.

Champagne Mimosa Flight
Make your own with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Brut and a selection of juices. The one to order for a celebration.

Whichever you choose, they pair well with anything on the brunch menu, from the Crab Cake Benedict to the Croque Monsieur Benedict.
